Enhanced Health Services
We know often times families struggle to coordinate services across different specialties and locations. Before Game Changer’s start, schedule limitations forced families to make hard choices between multiple equally important services.
Enhanced Health Services (EHS) is a term Game Changer uses to refer to Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Therapy (ST) and Physical Therapy (PT).
Game Changer offers each of these services as a single service option for clients who meet medical necessity criteria for specifically requested or recommended EHS Services. These services can also be utilized as a combination approach to providing a team-based intervention for our clients. Children don’t like to just sit in therapy, so Game Changer therapists strive to make therapy sessions feel like play for our clients.
Occupational Therapy:
Helps children/teens gain independence while also strengthening the development of fine motor skills, sensory motor skills, and visual motor skills that children need to function and socialize. At Game Changer our Occupational Therapists are working with children trying to determine where delays or limitations are coming from, especially in the areas of fine motor skills, cognitive skills, social development, and establishing self-care routines. Together, these skills lead to children being able to grow into healthy, well-functioning adults.
Speech-Language Pathologists:
Work to help children communicate effectively by assisting with the improvement of their verbal and non-verbal language skills. They also help with things like feeding and swallowing abilities. Game Changer Speech Therapists focus on improving three areas of communication- Speech, Receptive Language, Expressive Language.
- When Game Changer Speech Therapists work on speech, the goal is to improve articulation, decrease stuttering (disfluency), or treat voice disorders.
- When Game Changer Speech Therapists work to improve receptive language, they are helping to process and understand the information they receive from others.
- When Game Changer therapists work on expressive language, they are helping clients learn how to produce words and combine words into phrases and sentences to outwardly communicate their wants and needs and share information.
Every child we see for speech therapy is different Once our staff completes an initial assessment, the speech-language pathologist will determine the best course of action. Interventions vary depending on what communication or feeding/swallowing goals will be targeted.
Speech-language pathologists strive to make every therapy session feel like play, especially for their youngest clients!
Physical Therapy:
They see children for a variety of different reasons, including bone/muscle issues, sports-related injuries, or genetic, brain, spine, or nerve disorders. Game Changer Physical Therapists help clients to improve range of motion (ROM), strength, flexibility, and movement patterns. They want to help children move their bodies how and when they want to the best of their abilities. Game Changer Physical therapists help make everyday activities easier for kids. Our physical therapy staff helps to engage kids with fun, age-appropriate games and activities to keep them motivated and happy. PT’s help improve gross motor skills by encouraging kids to do things like:
- Play on large exercise balls to build strength
- Run/hop around to improve their coordination
- Balance on a balance beam
- Stand on one foot
PTs can help kids with many issues, including:
- Recovery from sports- and non-sports-related injuries
- Delays in development, such as a child who should be walking
- Not hitting the milestones for their age
- Muscle weakness or imbalances
- Poor coordination and/or motor planning – which is the ability to think of and carry out a motor act, such as writing with a pencil
- Nerve/muscle conditions, such as cerebral palsy
Our programs give families the option to include Occupational Therapy , Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Respite/ CLS Services and ABA therapy together in one clinical setting. We can create schedules with consistent start and end times. This makes service collaboration and multi discipline programs more manageable for families. Families also have peace of mind knowing their loved one will benefit from a multidiscipline approach in a team-based environment they will love.
We focus those goals on attaining everyday life skills and independence. We build a plan that will grow with your child so that you see ongoing, positive change.
